About The Bakery Restaurant

The Bakery Restaurant is a family owned full-service restaurant and bakery located in downtown historical Jefferson, Texas, next door to the Excelsior Hotel and across from the Jefferson Hotel. We serve breakfast and lunch seven days a weeks from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and dinner on Saturday till 8 p.m. The only time you will find us closed (except in extreme situations) is on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and Dec. 26th.

We also keep a pastry case full of cookies, danishes, turnovers, seven layer dessert bar, muffins, strudels, flips, and brownies — our Sinful Brownie is "heavenly" — a must try. Please visit our Breakfast and Lunch/Dinner Menu pages to view our breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings.

We also provide catering services. You choose what you need-breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, hors d’ouevres — sit down, box lunches, buffet style.

OUR STORY
Jeff and Lynn (the owners) met in 1990 while working in The Bakery as a cook/baker and a waitress. We bought The Bakery in September of 1992 and have been going strong ever since. Our family has grown to a family of five with three incredible boys — ages 2, 12, and 14 — ruling our lives.

OUR BUILDING'S STORY
The Bakery Restaurant building proudly displays a historical marker containing the following information about the location of the building: "Near Trammel’s Trace, a road charted 1813, used by thousands of settlers migrating to Texas, the site was owned 1868 by D.B Culberson, later a Congressman and Lawyer for Defense in the Diamond Bessie Murder Trial. Culberson’s two-story building here, was the original site for the Chesterfield Club, the East Texas Elite Social Group. 1870-1930: The present structure was built about 1900. It housed horses and buggies for public hire until auto age."
